AMW’s 1618 tipper to debut at Excon 2011 in Bangalore

Asia Motor Works (AMW) has announced that it is entering a new segment of the tipper market, with the launch of the new 1618 TP, at the upcoming Excon exhibition that starts on November 23, 2011 in Bangalore. The 16-tonne tipper will take the company from a niche to volume segment. The Indian CV maker also plans to launch several new application specific models aimed at growing its volumes and market share in the tipper segment. Commenting on the occasion, Anirudh Bhuwalka, Managing Director and CEO, AMW, noted, "AMW is an Associate Sponsor at the Excon 2011. This is likely to be one of the biggest exhibitions for the fast growing construction segment. With a strong focus on infrastructure development by the government of India, we are sure there would be a much larger participation from international players as also from most Indian companies in this domain." It is to be mentioned that AMW’s Bhuj facility has a capacity to manufacture 50,000 trucks per annum and was set up at a cost of Rs. 1,500 crore. It currently employs 2,200 people and uses state of the art production processes to build world class trucks for the Indian market. In addition the company has installed capacity for 24,000 tipper bodies, 100,000 tonnes of fabricated components, 45,000 tonnes of pressed metal and 30,000 tonnes of frames for chassis production. The company recently acquired a forging unit in Mysore in southern India, which produces axles and other forged components.
